Interview Process Overview
The interview process for the Peloton Expert (Part-time) role is designed to assess your passion for fitness, customer service skills, and ability to engage with potential customers. Here’s how it went for me:
1. Initial Phone Interview
The first stage was a phone interview with a recruiter. This was a screening call, and the recruiter wanted to learn more about my background, especially my experience with Peloton products and fitness in general. Here’s what I was asked:
Why do you want to work for Peloton?
I discussed my passion for fitness and how I’ve been a Peloton user for years, highlighting how the brand’s community and innovative products resonate with me. I also emphasized my desire to help others experience the same transformation I had.
What do you know about Peloton’s products?
The recruiter asked for specifics about Peloton’s bikes, treadmills, and digital app features. I talked about the Peloton Bike+ and its features like the rotating screen and auto-resistance adjustments, as well as the Peloton app’s ability to connect users with a variety of workout classes.
How do you approach customer service?
I explained that I always prioritize the customer experience, focusing on listening carefully, identifying their needs, and offering tailored solutions. I also emphasized the importance of creating a positive, welcoming atmosphere.
The phone call lasted about 20-30 minutes, and it felt more like a conversation than a strict interview.
2. In-Store or Virtual Assessment
The next stage was an in-store (or virtual) assessment, depending on your location. This was a hands-on evaluation of how well you can present and sell Peloton products to a potential customer. Here’s what happened:
Product Knowledge Test
I was asked to pretend that I was giving a sales pitch to a potential customer who was interested in buying a Peloton Bike+ but was unsure if it was worth the investment. I had to walk through the key features of the bike, explaining the benefits of things like the live classes, the convenience of having an all-in-one fitness solution, and the motivational aspect of the community.
Handling Objections
I was also given a scenario where the “customer” was hesitant to purchase due to the price.
